If the tree is healthy, good drainage, and planted in loose soil, my peach trees will grow about 5' the first year. Then they put on about 3' of shoot extension per year. When they get older they put on about 18' to 24" per year. My trees are mulched w/ wood chips (at least when they are young).

There are advantages and disadvantages of pushing peach trees to grow fast. With a lot of vigor, it's a pain to try to stay ahead of pruning. Plus too much shading from vigor and fruit quality suffers.

One nice aspect of high vigor is that the trees fill in the area allotted for them faster. In other words you get a full canopy faster. Also there are less problems w/ canker when peach trees are growing fast. They seem to heal wounds faster, and some trees will heal canker in a high vigor state.
