The variety 'Red Barron' is said to have a distinct pear flavor. It's not a very common variety from what I gather, but perhaps you somehow managed to get a hold of a tree of this.

You know...I goggled, "apples that taste like pears" and nothing came up. Apples trees came up but none gave the discription that they taste like pears, So I thought I was going mad...thanks for that info. Do you think any of these apples look like the regular apples of trees say gala, Jonagold?

Did you post the right photo of the tree? Because that looks like a lilac and not an apple tree.

No that's the tree...man you have big lilac trees in OR. My picture was more of the bark to help with identifying the tree.thanks md

I can't see the photos but is it possible that you wound up with asian pears and not apples at all? Asian pears look like apples.
