Evans Bali, Romance Series and Carmine Jewel Cherries for zone 3b

We are hoping for recommendations as we convert our lawn to an edible garden here in Northern Minnesota, in zone 3b. We plan to plant cherries this spring. In researching varieties, we found a lot of folks are dismayed over the profuse suckering of the Evans Bali Cherry. Now we are looking at the Romance series of cherries out of Saskatchewan. We're considering Romeo, Crimson Passion and Juliet (thought haven't found Juliet here in the US yet.) Also looking at Carmine Jewel. Wondering what recommendations anyone might have for growing fresh eating/pie cherries in zone 3b. Thanks!
