Another thread got me thinking about trying to propogate one of my hybrid hazelnuts by layering. I have a Halles Giant that has been in the ground 2-3 years and has multiple trunks. I was planning to grow all five of my hybrids in tree form, but I let this one get away from me a bit.

The pic is a bit dark, but I think you can see the multiple stems with the tallest one being the one I will keep. Some of the stems are thin enough that I think I can bend them down to the ground and attempt to layer them, but I don't know if I can do this now or if I should wait for spring. What say you? Any experience with this?
