Are you sure it's really Autumn Flame and not something else. Clemson rates it "Delicous, juicy and sweet."
Peaches grown in California, then bought by Costco and then shipped to NY are not going to be anything to write home about.

CA peaches tend to be sawdust by about Aug. in my experience (not so recent). My theory is that they are now grown too far from the coast and cook in the desert sun. The best peach land now grows grapes, grapes and more grapes.

I just went to the trouble of signing up here, to note in fairness to the variety that today, Sept 21, I've just eaten my first of these peaches, and found it entirely satisfactory. I bought them here in Arlington, Virginia at Trader Joe's, and the box mentions presumably their depot as Monrovia, California. To be honest, it was better than my previous batch from Joe's var. "Grand Finale", which was acceptable, but not up to the standard of the earlier peaches I'd bought there, whose name I neglected to write down. I think that Autumn Flame is as good as the first ones, which is indeed remarkable so late in the season.
