Anyone growing Autumn Flame peach. I just bought some from Costco in NY. They were grown in California. Big and beautiful. They were dry and mealy. Same experience last year with their late season peaches. They will be returned for a refund.

Not growing that one but have one planted, Sweet September, that matures even later. I hope it's not dry and mealy.

Are you sure it's really Autumn Flame and not something else. Clemson rates it "Delicous, juicy and sweet."
Peaches grown in California, then bought by Costco and then shipped to NY are not going to be anything to write home about.

CA peaches tend to be sawdust by about Aug. in my experience (not so recent). My theory is that they are now grown too far from the coast and cook in the desert sun. The best peach land now grows grapes, grapes and more grapes.
