I have five left from a visit to Fremont,CA last week, from Bill Merrill's trees. They are the only Pawpaw I've ever tried about three years ago and that started me growing them. From two fruit I planted about ten seeds and grew about that many plants from them. This time,I got the last what was on the trees, about fifteen and a lot of seeds,so far.I'll be growing them as soon as they stratify. If anyone wants a plant or two,let me know. They are the only I've tried, but good flavor.Bill said they are are cross between Corwin Davis and Ray Jones,a local San Jose grower. | I pulped and froze what was left of my batch today to make room in my fruit freezer for the late apples, pears and persimmons. The pawpaws had mostly degraded to a condition beyond what I would consider salvageable - as soon as the flesh loses that bright yellow color and shows any movement toward orange, I know that the taste will be too strong and bitter for my palate. My harvest began late this year - sometime in early September and continued until about a week ago. Had a smallish crop - I think because I didn't hand pollinate but ate < 5% of the fruit anyway. Best variety IMO this year was Shenandoah. |

Did you save any seeds for us?

Mine quit a couple weeks ago. I had many great pawpaws this year, but I tend to get them after they drop and the trees are in a row on a hill and the fruits roll down so I am never exactly sure which tree the fruit came from. They all taste similar enough to me anyway. Scott

I debate with myself every year about getting pawpaw trees. I think I may actually get a couple this year... if I don't talk myself out of it.

Hmm . . . I'm interested in them too. Do I want a pawpaw tree in my yard?
