Asian/Bradford hybrid pear. Interesting.

I let a few seedling pears grow out, seed parent was either Bartlett or Korean Giant. The oldest bore fruit to year.

About the size of a Ping pong ball, and a perfect replica of Korean Giant in appearance. Flesh has slight astringency when underripe but sweetens with full ripeness.

So, what is it good for? I could see them used as a garnish, as an item used in floral design, and pickled or preserved whole in a manner similar to crab apples.

Cute little things, and it makes a very attractive picture right now in the landscape with burgundy purple foliage contrasting with the golden brown fruit.
