What's wrong with this avocado tree?

The tree was purchased in the spring and was transplanted to a bigger pot with potting soil. Now the leaves are droopy and the tree trunk looks black. How can I save this tree?

The sun cooked it. Paint it white to protect it from further damage.

Also, loosen that tape around your tree to the wood or you will kill it. Leave it a little loose so the tree has room to grow.

It got a good sun burn and may drop some leaves. Try puting it in a little shaded area for awhile. What kind is it? Furte'naeball, Hass? I would also remove those rocks they maybe heating up the roots too much.
Avo's drink a lot so keep up on the water. You also may need to put it in the ground soon. Avo's can get hugh so you will need to take that into conseration. Raised on a Avo ranch in So CA
