| It can be done but not the easiest for your area. You want to seek out varieties with low chill requirements, which should be available in better area nurseries. These are NOT the same as many of the commercial varieties, which tend to be grown in more temperate areas with lower winter temperatures. And you need to be careful about irrigation - kiwis are sensitive to high salts content, which seems to be the norm for SoCal water supplies. Blueberries can be done and quite successfully but best in containers - it is extremely difficult to maintain the low soil pH these plants need in your area outside of a container growing situation. And the same cautions apply to the irrigation water. |
