I have a Flavor Supreme Pluot tree that is planted in a three in a hole arrangement with a Dapple Dandy Pluot and a Late Santa Rosa Plum as a pollenizer. The tree has never produced heavily (except one early year). THis may be becuase of the limited chilling hours or the Flavor Supreme isn't known as a heavy producer either. This year the tree never seemed to grow properly -- limited in leave production and flowers. The leaves I did get for the most part didn't look normal -- brown edges and withered. it did get hit by aphids that rolled leaves on new growth but even before that it just never looked very vigorous. As you see from the picture it dropped its leaves abnormally early. Is this tree dying/dead?

Is it worth pruing way back and hoping for the best next year? Or does it have some kind of disease that can be treated?

Any suggestions are welcome.
