Accidental Hybrid Blackberry Plant?

jtburton

I noticed that I have a couple of new blackberry plants popping up in a mulch bed. These plants do not appear to be wild blackberry plants because I have a number of those on another part of my property and they look nothing alike. Last year I had about a dozen varieties of trailing blackberry plants in pots about 20 ft away from where these are located next to a tree. I'm guessing a bird ate several of the trailing berries and passed the seeds out the other end, possibly enabling the seeds to overwinter and grow into new hybrid blackberry plants. Does this sound plausible? I'm attaching a photo of one of the plants.
