M26 and fireblight question

RobThomas

One of the apple trees I'm considering is Goldstar. It's supposed to be a disease resistant tree. However, I can only find it on M26 rootstock which is very susceptible to fireblight. My question is, if I plant the graft below the soil line, can I avoid the fireblight issue with this rootstock? I know that would defeat the purpose of the dwarfing rootstock, but I'm more concerned with reducing my chances of fireblight.
