Hi Jen,

The white petals fall off and the remaining stem turns into the blueberry. Where do you live? I live in Hawaii on the island of Oahu in a city called Kapolei. My blueberries are doing well right now. I never knew that they could get so big. They are definitely bigger than what you buy at the supermarkets.

Nice talkin to ya!

Hi KennyB,
thanks for the info, i'll keep an eye on those stems! about how many days from the flower falling off until you can eat the blueberry? i live in southern california and the weather hasn't been too cold lately.

thanks,

jen: You are in for a long wait this time of yr. Fruit setting now may turn blue by January or Febr but probably won't get sweet. Fruit that sets in Febr may be sweet by Apr to June depending on variety. The fruit gets sweet several days to weeks after it turns blue.

What varieties are you growing?

Jen,

First of all, I should not be the one responding to you. You see there is no cold frost or so called winter season in Hawaii. Being that this is the first year that I've grown blueberries here in Hawaii, I can only wait and see if it blooms all year. I just picked some the other day. I waited this time after they turned blue to see if they ended up being sweeter and they were. My blueberries have been providing fruit ever since I bought them in August. I have all types. I think the Fruitnut is the one you should be listening to.

KennyB
