Hi there,
We have noticed that the large tree in out backyard has recently started bearing fruits that appear to resemble Mango. How do I identify if they in fact are?
Thank you very much,
Cassie (Brisbane, Australia)

that is a mango tree, there are many varties of mango. look at the truck try to see if it has a graft line. if its a grafted tree enjoy them as the fruit will be good. pine island nusry has a chart of mango varities on there website you could come pair a rip 1 to there pics. if it is not a grafted tree then it is conssidered a "wild tree" and the fruits range from turpintine tasting and stringy like dental floss to edible and tasty theres only 1 way to find out. a word off caution mango trees are in the same family as posin oak, some people have allergies to the leafs andd sap also do not burn mango clipings as the fumes are toxic
