Blackberry Control

| On the back of my lot I have a steep hill with blackberries all over it. I like having the blackberries there, helps with erosion control and good to eat, only problem is I am tired of pulling all the sprouts that travel up to 20 feet from the parent. I was thinking of putting down some edging or membrane to try to stop the spreading. Has anyone tried this? Does anyone know how deep I would have to go? When I pull out the babies the roots seem pretty shallow.
Thanks,

| Being you have steep hill I just cut off with weed eater they cut easy if cut before go woody. I cut off by thousands in my hedge rows with dixie chopper riding mower after about three cutting of spouts and grass I don't see them anymore until next year. When root come to top ground as close as 3 inches they spout 2 inches they realy spout. If have hard soil at depth of 6 to 8 inches that sent up roots to shallow depth. I would dig down in your soil until gets hard that be depth I put barrier to about 8 inches there no absolute depth. In septic systems there root pruner crystals that work along border outer edge. |
