Where can I find info on apricot varieties?

I'm living in Italy at the moment where they sell different varieties of apricot's at the market during the apricot season. I've been collecting the seeds and the apricots not only look different from the outside but the seeds are different and they taste different. Is there a book on the varieties of apricots or scientific information?

Here is one variety of seed that I have:

Are you trying to plant seeds of apricots? If so, you will likely not get a fruit exactly like the one the seed came from. Like most commonly raised fruits, you need a grafted tree to get fruit just like the named variety. The seeds will have a mix of genetic material from both parents and are not just like the parent fruit.

The reports are good for learning but the reports don't indicate scientific names and they don't include pictures of the seeds. Does anyone know the name or scientific name of the pointy apricot seeds?

First I need to see if I am able to import the seeds. If I am able to import them, I will plant them, if I can't import them, I will plant them here. I don't care if the fruit isn't the same, the seeds deserve to be planted instead of thrown in the trash. :)

Apricot seeds can't be imported from Europe due to the risk of plum pox (sharka).
