How cold can the fruit of raspberries tolerate before they stop producing? And to be clear I am not talking about the cold hardiness of the plants, I am talking about the actual fruit. Where I am in Maryland it felt like we would never get a frost. We had the first frost 11/7 this year and my raspberries are still producing. I kind of assumed that a frost cold enough to kill all my squash, peppers and tomatoes would also cause the berries to stop ripening. However the immature fruit look fine and I am still getting new red raspberries. If the answer is it depends on the variety, I don't know the variety it was just a red raspberry I bought at a farm stand in PA. The night in question was supposed to go down to 30F, who knows what it actually was in my yard. It was cold enough to kill all the vegetable crops except the brassicas and there was frost on everything.

Continued frost and freezing temps will stop them from maturing. They just kinda sit there and start to taste bad. Happening now to mine and with the mid 20's coming Wednesday night, it's over for me. I figure tomorrow morning is the last harvest, maybe Wednesday morning but once the 20 degree weather arrives, that will stop them. I always have some that do not finish completely. Although all are almost done. I have been waiting for it as I'm trading with others on this site. Blackberries and raspberries. Waiting for them to go dormant.

Mine survived a couple of freezes down to 29F or 28F this year without any noticeable effect. However a 24F night wiped them out completely.
