overwintering strawberries in city house

Is it ok to overwinter a plastic strawberry container in an urban cellar that isn't heated but isn't cold either because the steam pipes are in the basement? I'd put the winter temperature in our cellar at 65 to 68 degrees, probably not cold enough but the alternative in New York City is freezing cold on our desk - or I could plant the strawberry plants in the ground, although we don't have a lot of in-ground garden space and harder to dig in the cold weather. Any suggestions? we didn't get many strawberries at all, this was the first year we had them. This is one of those strawberry containers with about 9 side holes and a bigger hole on top, and I gave up awhile ago and let them get rain and watered them sometimes but otherwise realized they weren't producing this year. I hope next year is better if I can protect them over the winter.
