Help with fruiting Apple Tree

aprille
10 years ago

Hello everyone. my name is Aprille. I am hoping someone here can offer me some advice. I have a 4 year old Pink Pearl apple tree that is producing fruit right now! We had just one fruit on it last year (we did have a nice crop the year before though - about 10 fruit). I noticed blossoms about a month ago but thought nothing of it since it's done this the past few years. But then last week I noticed that I now have some lovely baby apples! We (specially the kids) are very excited about this but my concern is would they make it through the winter? Our winters here in the San Francisco Bay Area is very very mild. We do get slight frost toward January but nothing heavy. Is there anything I can do to help keep them safe? or should I just let them be and see what happens?

Thank you!!

    Hi Aprille;

    Sorry, pick them off for as the days get shorter your tree will enter dormancy and they will fall off. Your tree will blossom normally next spring.
