How does Feijoa work?

I would like to grow up some Feijoa.
In my place they grow up well and make fruit without problems.
I know it because a friend of mine has some plants.
I asked him how do they work about pollination and if I need of grafted plants, but he doesn't know anything about it.
He could tell me that they have two different cultivars.
So, is Feijoa a dioecious plant or is not serf-fertile plant so I need more than a cultivar?
Than, probably, this friend, will uproot some plants.
Will these plants survive if i'll plant them in my field or this is a delicate plant and will not survive?
Can you tell me name of the cultivars of this fruit and their characteristics?

The feijoa plants should do fine in combined zones 8b9a. Temperatures below 25F will cause seasonal defoliation; temperatures below 15F may cause reduced flowering and fruit the following year.

Feijoa is partially self-fertile. Having more than one variety, or doing hand-pollination, can increase the fruit yield.

The plants should be watered during the fruit-forming period if rainfall is low or absent.

Animals such as squirrels and opossums might bother the fruit.
