black raspberries in Maryland...

Another post here I saw this week, reminded me how much I love black raspberries - better than reds or blackberries.

I grew them in OH years ago, but haven't tried here in the Mid Atlantic - can anyone chime in about their experiences?

Do they handle heat OK here? Disease pressure?

There are only a handful of cultivars - is any one better than the other?

I didn't notice any difference. Now I have Bristol, before that I had Jewel.

I find they are generally trouble free, along with blueberries. If only all fruits were so easy. Of course you have to keep the birds off of them.
