Very interesting...thank you for posting this Konrad. I can only suspect that this apple is one of the "form over function" fruits and probably has undesirable characteristics. It is however so unusual that it draws me in. One of the photos shows a gob of apples on a stem with no leaves in the frame. Another site gives a ladies description as an apple with no leaves? How is this possible?
Another photo shows a very nice specimen with nice shape and very healthy leaves? What gives?
It'd be awesome if someone could cross it with Honeycrisp and get that flavor with this shape it would be a freaking smashing hit in the supermarkets.

Yeah, right... it probably originates from Chernobyl and was imported to Germany for its novelty.

Really neat looking apple. Though, I suspect it's grown more for its novelty than for its taste. The German article talked more about its looks than flavor. Still, I'd grow it.

It is a beautiful apple, Konrad. Too bad about the taste. If I had room it would be a lovely tree to add to my collection. Thanks for the pics and info. Mrs. G

Thank you all!

>>form over function<<
Agree, Appleseed!
Perhaps, somebody making a old apple new again?
Not sure if the apple in the first picture is different or better in quality then the rest. Surely not in my priority list but if I had a scion I'd put it on a branch just for curiosity.

It seems this sales company distinguishes itself as the best photoshop designer in W Europe ;-)

Honestly this little star-shaped apples look funny, but it remains.

Alcedo...looks like you hit the nail on the head!
I asked the seller if it was that Swiss apple, he said yes, ..just newly presented.
