That sounds like a good thing to me. Extra fruit for this season! Well you'll probably thin it anyways but still should be nice.

If really dry then the tree won't grow much. That's OK and won't affect bloom this spring. Spurring up is normal and will assure plenty of bloom. Now if you can get it pollinated there should be a good set. I think you know I have to hand pollinate to set even a decent set.

I use one of those little padded brushes that women use to put eye make up on. I just go around to all of my pluots and plums and brush the blossoms. I works great.

I'm like Steve. Take a small brush and circle around from tree to tree spending the most time on FS because it's hardest to set. This past yr I had to thin off several hundred FS leaving about 60 on a small tree. They were the best fruit of the yr.

I only collect pollen if I'm doing a cross. You can do it with a small cup. You can use an electric tooth brush to vibrate the flower. Works great. For what you guys are doing I do the same use a small paint brush. You can freeze (must be dry) or refrigerate (about 3 weeks) pollen too for later use. Like you can cross pollinate plants that do not flower at the same time.
