Persimmon tree and disease

Trinacria

I recently planted a 2-3 year Gosho Persimmon tree. Followed all the proper steps for planting and things have looked good for about two weeks. Yesterday, I went to inspect the plant and noticed black looking bark (mold, fungus) near the crown of the tree. Some cracking too. I touched one of the smaller branches near the area and it fell off the tree. I am guessing this is a fungus or disease? Any input or treatment? Fungicide or pruning? I added a picture that may or may not help any diagnosis. I am not afraid to prune as I am most likely going to espalier the tree, however, this is still debatable. Thank You.
