Believe it would. Otherwise, you'd have a roasted starchy nut, instead of a roasted sweet nut.

Do you grow chestnuts, by the way? If so what's your general take on them?

Have a few seedlings of the Dunstans planted out here and there - and a couple of surviving native chestnuts up in the woods - think they're C.dentata, and not C.pumila.
Tiny little burs/nuts - but more than one nut per bur. Largest one is now without a pollenizer, as the one located 20 ft or so away died,so now most nuts are 'blanks'. I have a seedling of the larger one, from a nut I managed to beat the squirrels to, but it's not planted close enough to get the job done.
I'm not a huge fan of them...but maybe I've not had a good one. The only ones I've ever eaten were gathered from a couple of Chinese chestnut trees on the campus of the community college across the street from my office.
Prefer 'em raw. Only tried roasting a couple of times, but didn't like the texture - and they smelled kinda like raw sewage, to me.
