If anyone is interested Honeyberry USA now has Romeo and Juliet listed on their website as of a couple of days ago. Tentatively listed for fall 2015 delivery at 8" to 16" tall for $18. each. I just ordered one of each on Sunday.

They are both sour cherries, but Juliet is much easier to eat straight off the bush. If I were getting only one, it would definitely be Juliet. Romeo is good too, but is distinctly more tart. I grow both (plus others).

How do they compare to Crimson Passion for fresh eating?

Or Carmine Jewel? Which is best for fresh eating. Any others not here yet better? I plan to cook with them anyway, just curious. |

I grow 4 of the University of Saskatchewan cherries - Carmine Jewel, Cupid, Juliet, and Romeo. I also grow Evans, which is more tree-like and may be known as Bali in the U.S. I don't grow Crimson Passion so can't comment on it. My comments on the varieties I grow, as posted in some previous threads, are: "All too tart to sit down and eat a bowl of them, but Juliet is the easiest to eat out-of-hand, with Cupid a close second. Those two I can eat quite a few of at a sitting, the others all get pretty tart after a half dozen or so. The Evans isn't bad either but it didn't seem to have as much taste as the darker cherries." Hope that helps.
