Having 40 or so persimmon tree's that are way too tall to my liking. They are growing on a hill and find it unsafe too harvest. They will be cutdown 3 at a time to about 3 feet tall.
New growth wiill be grafted the following year to a multi-stem with different varieties.

Is this a home collection? What you plan to do with all the fruits?

Those look good Bob. Some persimmons around here get 50' tall and others get 20'. I wonder if there are any natural dwarfs like north star is to cherries?

Bob,

How are the pluot grafts doing? Did your Rojo Brillante persimmon taste improve this year?

rED sUN, YES just a home collection gone wild. As far as getting rid of asian persimmon here, no problem. There are wild persimmon up the ying-yang here, nobody want s them. If you like native persimmon grow Rossyanka's, mine have one seed, but most are seedless and they taste like the amricans.

Tony, your sionwood are doing great.I grafted them on my nexterine tree that went wild this year. It is a tree grown from store bought fruit. I hate to topworked this tree too.
R/B is doing great but this tree needs a haircut also, i took of all the flowers this spring but will have high hopes next year.
My tree's have not suffered at all this winter except my inground fig's,which was alright because they were too tall anyway. New growth was nipped at 4 feet so that they branch-out better. They are now 6 to 7 feet tall.
