Mike, where was this persimmon growing? Was it in a place where it had likely been planted? Or was it in a random place that made it seem like it had most likely volunteered there wild?

I've never ordered from Just Fruits & Exotics, but I've heard lots of good things about their persimmons. I like Hidden Springs Nursery a lot. They have smaller trees but more affordable. been very pleased with all my dealings with Hidden Springs. You might also want to consider Nolin Nursery. I haven't dealt with Nolin Nursery yet, but they have a nice selection of persimmons, and they seem to have a good reputation.

Mike it sounds like an asian persimmon. Along with the two great places mentioned by Floyd there is also Johnson Nursery, Edible Landscaping, etc. They usually take down to 0F no problem but when it gets lower than that you can get some dieback.

Thanks for the help I will give all those places a look over and see which one looks the closest to what I had seen. It was in a place it looked to have been planted so I thought it would be a named type..never seen a wild one around here. Thanks again for the help
