I have poor droughty sand soil. Leaf mulch helps many of my ornamental and fruit trees and bushes. Some types, however, I cannot mulch safely. Cold-hardy citrus, for example, which like all citrus are prone to root rots. What about jujube and pomegranate? Mulch or not? Does anyone know or have experience with these?

I mulch both poms and jujube....then again I mulch citrus also but not close to the trunks.

I mulch both and they thrive here in Dallas. Though I have thick clay alkaline soil.
