I saw mailordernatives sells ogeechee limes and lists them as hardy to zone 6. McKenzie Farms also sells them and lists them as hardy to zone 7. It seems this is the same white tupelo tree that beekeepers make honey from in the swamps of the Apalachicola River Valley in the Florida panhandle (as in Van Morrison's song "Tupelo Honey" and the Peter Fonda movie "Ulee's Gold"). I never knew that tree had an edible fruit until I just now -- if I'm not mistaken -- realized it's the same tree as the ogeechee lime, which I hadn't really paid any attention to. Has anyone tried it? Would you place any value on it for its fruit? Is it really hardy to zone 7? Where else can it be grown besides swamps? Maybe beside a small branch?
