Apple: versatile, long-keeping, adaptable.

apple ... besides the above if you select the right cultivar you can pick fruit off the tree for months and maybe store for weeks to months too.

Then there is apple sauce, preserves, wine, dried and cider (hard and soft).

Good smoking wood too.

It is not that I am crazy about apples--I like them a lot--but if I was forced to pick only one I'd want that fruit to last.

Mangos for me. Then stone fruit. I have had the fortune of tasting many on my trips to Mexico. Much different than store bought mangos. Flavor King would be my favorite stone fruit.
