I'm reading 'A View of the Cultivation of Fruit Trees and the management of Orchards and Cider' Published 1817.
It is certainly readable and interesting. Most of the paragraphs are just one sentence long!

    Hi

First sorry looks like i got screwed up little bit. Looks like i double posted mine message two times. Not to mention that, i just noticed it (Sorry got little hurry and wanted to post it.).

Here is right way to read mine message. When you reach words " Next book name is Peach culture from 1889 and has 220 pages online version here is the link :" then move down to message until you see again those same words and then continue reading there (Text between those words are just repeating text, sorry for the inconvience).

Hi Misterbaby thanks of such a nice words. I thought someone might be interested those too, so i decided to give links to those books.

Hi Michael357 thanks of nice words. Ops sorry, looks like i gave link a wrong way. You said you had some problems there about peach culture book link. Sorry i gave to link to online version instead of same kind of link as other books. This computer also gets notice from online version, you can still try to read it online way, just click o.k. the message, if it is says your browser is unsupported and click next button. You can also Text or pdf if that way it works for you. Here is the link for Peach culture book :

    http://www.archive.org/details/peachculture00fultrich

Hi Theaceofspades nice to see you like the book. Also good to hear so old book is readable and is interesting. Happy reading there.

    Hi

Looks like i wrote little wrong my last message, need to fix little bit.

"Ops sorry, looks like i gave link a wrong way" should have been Ops sorry, looks like i gave link in a wrong way, forgot in word. Also "You can also Text or pdf if that way it works for you" should have been You can also read text file or PDF file if that way that it works for you.

Sorry i got little hurry my message and also i got one technical problem and couldn't see on that moment online version good way so i couldn't tell what was in book (Yes it is o.k. now that technical problem, no need to take care of it).

Peach culture book has information about growing peaches and have varieties describtion (Or at least word varieties is in contest). Book says it is new, revised and greatly englarged edition, it shows year 1912 number on one page. I gave the link above already.
Peach-growing book has information about peach varieties, distrution of peaches and propagation of peach trees. Link was given above.

Looks like i forgot to write describtion of The prunning- of winter-injured peach trees book. As the describtion says it talks about winter injury of peach trees and it effects on the tree. Link was given above.

I forgot to give 1944 year book, which has 126 pages online a name. It talks about things about quality and size of peach fruit as name suggest. Tree-conditioning and size of the crop, growth of the fruit and growth response to thinning are fro example in this book contents. I think that might be interesting reading if you want to get good peach production. Book name is : Tree-conditioning the peach crop : a study of the effect of thinning and other practices on size and quality of fruit. Link was given above.

Then we may continue to see other books about peaches.

Next book has also something from peaches. It is from 1912 and has 268 pages online version. I let book name to speak itself. Book name is : Fruits and vegetables under glass; apples, apricots, cherries, figs, grapes, melons, peaches and nectarines, pears, pineapples, plums, strawberries; asparagus, beans, beets, carrots, chicory, cauliflowers, cucumbers, lettuce, mushrooms, radishes, rhubarb, sea kale, tomatoes

    Here is the link :

    http://www.archive.org/details/fruitsvegetables00turn

Next book is from 1895 and has 32 pages. Book name is : Peach growing for market. This books talks about where peaches can be grown.

    Here is the link :

    http://www.archive.org/details/peachgrowingform00smit

Next book is from 1921 and has 74 pages in online version. Book name is : Recent studies on peach yellows and little peach. I do not see the contest very well in online version on this computer, but i see words behavior of trees on the wet soils on conetest page and also on introduction talks about heavy losses on this state on peach trees (On this state meant New Jersey in this book.).

    Here is the link :

    http://www.archive.org/details/recentstudiesonp00blak

Next book is from 1888 and has 344 pages. Book name is : Peach yellows : a preliminary report. It talks about this disease, peach yellow. I assume this is a disease, i meant this peach yellow. O.K. i checked it, this book says it is disease, no need to further check if it disease or not.

    Here is the link :

    http://www.archive.org/details/peachyellowsprel00smit

Next book is from 1942 and has 64 pages online version. Book name is Marketing the Illinois peach crop. It talks about peach crop in commercial way, but it says production is concertrated in three areas (In Illinois i think.) and also says Elberta is leading variety, so perhaps it is good to mention here. I know all to well what we did before the net, go to where the reference materials are and start hunting, what a time consuming pain.

When I was working in western CO I used to have to drive 4 hours to Ft. Collins to get to use CSU's library on occasions. Not a very efficient way to operate my business but very necessary and fruitful at times. Ah, those were the days.

Hi Dennis: I liked the book, The Peach, the Kansas Peach so much (and hated reading it online so much) that I bought an original copy. Well, I live in KS too and enjoy reading history. Lots of interesting reading to say the least.

There is on practice common in the book of hilling up soil about a foot up the trunk to make removing borers easier to do as you are only supposed to have them in the trunk area and not down in the root flares. Supposedly, the borers will do all their invading much higher up the trunk due to the presence of soil mounded up it. I plan to use the technique not as a sole means of protection but as an adjunct to other methods (if it doesn't rain too much).
