Very nice! Is it watercolor? Always interested in how others do their work.Do you paint from a live plants? Looking forward to seeing more of your work.

I used Prismacolor pencils and did it from the living plant. The inflorescence however is from a photograph I took in September.

nice technical drawing. It is showcased well, flower, stem, leaves and all. good work. curious, I do botany pics too. Do you matte your sketches? Do you use coloured mattes (different for each drawing) or is there a colour you like best?

Thanks for the nice feedback. I do matte if they're framed. I usually use white if the paper is off-white, otherwise I like tan or gray, but I really don't know how to set them off best. The color of the frame is also important. I like simple black or brown. I also like to draw, 2H and HB pencils.

Yah, I like the black/tan/grey mattes too. I also like dark green mattes. They are good for alot of plant illustrations. The reason I ask is because I'm new at this matting thing. Its tough to buy a surplus of mattes when you don't know what you'll be painting in the future.
