Mosaic projects

Hello Garden Art forum! This is my first time visiting your forum, so I hope that posting my mosaic pictures is appropriate to this forum. This is how I spent my winter, using up all of my stained glass scraps. I wouldn't call myself an artist, but I had a lot of fun!:)

They are lovely. I wish you lived close by as I have a ton of glass pieces I need to get a home for. I do design and make stained glass as well . I just love mosaics a lot

Wow, I am impressed.
You're so talented.

How can you seal them to put them outside?

Hi FlowrPowr -

I remember when you were doing them on Garden Junk forum. They are spectacular and you definitely can call yourself an artist.

Beautiful Work!

That is absolutely great! I have a ton of glass and no time(2 kiddos, and 1 on the way)! Did you use a tile or a plate for the centerpiece on the blue birdbath?

RE: Mosaic projects

It's been a while since I have posted. Sorry about the delay, it's garden season, and I don't get on the computer much.
I sealed them with Tilelab sealer. It seemes to work pretty well.
New, the center of the blue bird bath is a tile that I bought at the local Meijers store. They had tiles on sale for $3.50, and I loved the colors, so I bought three of them. It was the one big pattern, and several smaller tiles. I didn't even know what they were at the time. It turns out they had hooks on the back, and they were meant to hang on the wall. So far I have only used one set, and I have made the birdbath, and two birdhouses out of it. Here is a picture of the birdhouses, if anyone is interested.

They are absolutely beautiful and unique. Are you going to make them into a business? I'm sure you could sell them for many $$$$$$$$$$$$$

I think you're very artistic.. those birdbaths are gorgeous. I would purchase one, or commission one if you lived closer! :)

What kind of glue did you use? I am in the process of doing a stained glass mosaic window and I need a glue that is waterproof and dries clear. Did you spread all the glue out and then place your pieces down or did you glue them one piece at a time? What kind of grout did you use?
