'Peace' Tea Rose Botanical Watercolor

I've just started trying my hand at botanicals and am having a great time. So often I would paint watercolors and be very pleased with the flower, then somehow in putting a background in, would ruin the whole look. I think botanicals work best for me. Thanks for looking.

Though a postscript, the top rose appears a little more washed out than it does in real life...my scanner never seems to do pinks justice.

That's just lovely, I love botanicals. I have
a collection of scans of antique botanicals.

Very pretty

Very nice! I admire your ability to do watercolor. It is very hard for me. I took watercolor as a college class many years ago. We always put in the background first.

This rose is very nice.

I'm an artist too and also have a terrible time with the background of images. I always just want to focus on the focal point and nothing else. I need to design and draw my pictures so they look like the background of the picture is blended well with everything else.

If you like to paint, you may find the following link useful. It give a bunch of creative definitions of terms - it is related to only creative terms, nothing else. It is constantly growing. Look up art movements for instance to learn about art periods in history. If nothing else, it is a good summation of creative words.

Keep up the painting!
