What colored pencils are you using? What paper? This work in progress presentation is a neat idea. Thanks!

RE: A work in progress

The pencils are Derwent Artists, the paper - I'm not certain because I bought it ages ago - but it's pretty thick, in any case more than 120gr, (probably Canson 160gr?), general drawing paper. It doesn't have much of a surface grain, unlike the paper I used for my previous, slightly smaller drawings so I'm not sure yet whether I'm going to be happy with the results. The idea to do this work in progress thing was partly because I wanted to record just how long it does take to complete a drawing - people often ask and I usually can only make a rough guess and probably underestimate the time it takes.
I've seen lots of your botanical drawings via this website - they're beautiful. Do you have a website?

I don't have a website. (Don't know how.) I am using Prismacolor pencils, which are quite waxy. This has some disadvantages; a buildup of wax causes particles to break away and that is a problem, especially with dark colors. The clear blender (a solvent pen) helps but I usually go through a stage when I feel its going to be an unsalvagable disaster. Then it turns out to be acceptable after all. I use smooth 100lb Bristol Board. Even though it doesn't have much tooth, I like it better than vellum for detail.
