Watercolor - 'Pondering Life'

Painting is 12x16 on 14x20 Lanaquerelle cold press, 140 lb. paper.

Original photo is black and white image. I wanted to preserve the solemness of the composition and this homeless man so I only used two colors for the entire painting; ultramarine blue and burnt sienna. Everything is a combination of those two colors.

The painted image looks as if it tapers from top to bottom. It's not, I took this with my digital camera and didn't have the camera "square" to the paper. But it gets the image across anyway.

Thanks,
Robert

I think you depicted the old man in the city wonderfully.

Beautiful painting...I love the style and the subject.
I still have problems with watercolor, even after many years of doodling..

It has depth. I found myself staring at the buildings beyond.

Robert,

This painting seems to have captured a feeling very effectively. You did well!
