i've got a nice garden that i have inherited buying a new home... full sun. Currently have a combination of roses, iris, salvia and a nice small white orchid tree. I have some room for new additions... what would go well with this?

Have you considered Narcissus or Day Lilies? They both come in huge varieties. I have some pictures of my Narcissus for this year and they will bloom soon so there will be more. I have Day Lilies but they wont bloom for a bit longer. Either way you can view them here:
