Show me your lily 'skirts' and stake options

Posted by cheerpeople 5a (My Page) on

I just finished putting in lily bulbs ( not daylilies) The entire bed is pink and red flowered lily- some of the tallest varieties too.

Now I need to think about some 'skirting" options to cover those long stems that will eventually surface. Could you show me your pics of this?

Also if you've come up with pretty stake options or perhaps managed it without stakes at all I'd love to see it.

Even without pics I'd be happy for your suggestions. I'm in zone 5 and the bed is in full sun. There are asiatics, orienpets, oriental and trumpet lily.

Karen

thx!

Here is a pic of my patio garden. You can see that I have oriental and asiatic lilies up against the fence. That is Texas fall clematis that is on the fence.

I use magilla perilla in front of the lilies with coleus in front of that. Of course, there are some other things mixed in in front, but that was the main part of the "skirt" that year. This pic was taken in Sept long after the lilies had bloomed.

I love it! Thx for confirming my thought that perilla would be a nice option!
Lovely photo!
