RE: strange and BIG

That really is strange.

I hope you post pictures when this bursts into color.

RE: strange and BIG

I have that too! It is soooo strange!

What zone are you? I am in Pacific Northwest

RE: strange and BIG

Have you bloomed yet??

RE: strange and BIG

i dont know how to spell this but it is called fasciation, some times a stem comes up flat and has tons of flowers on it, this happened to one of my hosta plants one year

RE: strange and BIG

I have it happening in my garden as well and did some research. Apparently it is caused by damage done to the tops of the bulbs by various means (slugs, frost.....) causing the stems to flatten. It happens in a variety of plants and woody stems.

I can't wait till mine blooms, I photograph mine (see the fasciation of lily post on this forum) every couple of days to chart the process.

I think these flattened stems would make amazing flower arrangements, only one stem in a squarish vase:)

I have it happening to lesser degree to several other asiatic stems but not the neighboring orientals!?

Isn't nature grand!

RE: strange and BIG

That is cool and kinda weird...Would love to see photos of it in bloom too!

RE: strange and BIG

Did it ever bloom? If so, pics please.
