That's a Datura. Tropical plant. Fragrant at night.

Thanks mwenrick. These were supposed to be 'California wonder' pepper plants. I guess either packing error or somebody is ripping us off. I bought seeds from walmart.

Most definitely, it is Datura. Do NOT injest any part of it. It is very poisonous. Many people have died an agonizing death from it, thinking they can get a high from it ( the seed pot inparticular), although all of the plant is poisonous.

Personally I have it in my garden, but I respect its qualities and personalities.

ack! That was sold as an edible? Someone *really* messed that up. I'd write to the company to point out their error...might be a waste of time but this plant is seriously dangerous if someone tried to ingest it. Although, it's pretty doubtful that any part of this could be confused with a pepper.. haha! This plant will readily reseed, to the point of being a nuisance. So if you don't want a lot more, I'd suggest deadheading or trying to contain the seeds for next year if you want to grow more.
