Bell Pepper Plants Developing Fungus?

Hello,

I was hoping that someone could help me out. I noticed that there is a black, sooty-like substance growing on my bell pepper plants, near where the branches originate from the trunk. Is this a fungus that might get the best of my bell peppers? If so, what can I do to eliminate it or to mitigate its effects?

Indeed, those look like fungus. I am not really sure how to get rid of it since I am having the same problem as well. How long have you noticed this?
