What the heck is this?

I planted these things from one or two plants that I got from a neighbor's yard. I just uprooted them and without any ceremony just stuck them in the dirt in my yard. Now, 10 years later, they're everywhere. I have to work hard to keep them under some kind of control. However, when they bloom, they are rather spectacular. I have no idea what they are and nobody has been able to tell me. I live in north central Florida.

It looks like a hybrid of pearl bush and morning glory (leaves). Very strange. Definitely a bulb plant.

Perhaps it is a Bergenia cordifolia (heartleaf bergenia).
