pansies/violas in florida

Hi does anyone have any info/suggestions for planting pansies or violas in Central Fl? Will they grow? I have tried more than once to plant from seed, they haven't germinated, no matter what I do. I have tried in fall when it is cooler here thinking that the heat of our spring/summer is too much for them, but w/no luck. Any suggetions are welcome. I really want to have these cute little flowers with their smiling faces in my garden! Thanks!

I've tried violas, too...quite a few times...where i had planted..they did not come up...But since I gave up on them and reused the soil...which is everywhere...i have these violas throughout garden...at least I think they are them.

p.s. the garden forums annual/perennial forums may be able to assist with your question...I would post there too...

They grown well in the fall/winter/early spring but I have never tried from seed. Seems like too much trouble for annual that DO die during the summer here.
