Botann, is that your personal garden? The photos and garden are absolutely incredible! I don't think my jaw will be scraped off the floor for quite some time. That is an amazing collection of jap maples.

The maples are almost entirely ones I raised from seed.
a lot cheaper than purchased named varieties. I am not a collector, nor do I sell them. They are selected primarily for Fall color. The rest are composted. |

| First of all, that is so beautiful.... my respect. What is the Red ground-cover? I'm sure I can't grow it in Zone 5, but I love the look. |

| The red 'groundcover' is fallen leaves from the maples. In the winter and spring there is a pond there. It just dried up this summer a few days ago. There is a much larger pond on the other side of the cabin which doesn't dry up. We call the cabin, 'The Nipa Hut'. |

Yes. The hedge is made from Japanese Holly, Illex crenata, 'Convexa'. I started them from cuttings about 25 years ago.
