Unusual Suspect...

Many reference books do not allow the Blackjack Oak to have much in the way of fall color. This one decided several years ago it was not going to follow the trends. I've watched it turn this nice orange for the last 4 or 5 years. I always enjoy coming across a Blackjack Oak.

You must get a decent amount of rain late in the summer. Late summer is usually the only dry time here, and as a result the oaks are typically a brownish rust color rather than the nice glowing orange you have.

Oh, how beautiful! I once painted a picture of a tree like that, having no idea what it was...other than gorgeous!
