lilac leafing out

I hate to do this to youguys who live in colder zones. I was doing some cleaning outside today and i came across my lilac bush which is leafing out. Lilacs are really sad things in my zone, its not cold enough. They bloom, but because there is very little winter chill, they bloom weakly. either way, i should be smelling lilac blooms by the end of January.

RE: lilac leafing out

Central_cali369,

I am in Atlanta Georgia, and my lilacs have been developing big fat beautiful promising buds for about a month now, since it has been so unseasonably warm down here. Sure hope they will stay strong in case the frost hits.
Enjoy the wonderful aroma when they produce flowers - lilacs are heavenly to me! Brings back so many "fragrant" memories...

Happy HolyDays,
Natalie
