I have a friend who has just been diagnosed with Lymphoma sp?. I was looking for foods that would be most helpful to him, for energy and kemo therapy side effects.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Whew... probably anything with iron in it... leafy greens, because the chemo can give you anemia. Other than that... broccoli all the good stuff like that.

There's lots of info on the web for chemotherapy related herbs.... as far as food goes I think its by symptom...... if they're having stomach problems etc. fatique etc. nausea etc. as previously stated iron etc. might be good for fatique...... and quickly metabolised food and calories like pasta. Also caffeine might help unless its prohibited tea..... is good for you...... There are herbs that can help with side effects from chemotherapy..... one important one is milk thistle to help rid your liver of toxins..... Also of course consult a doctor before taking herbs..... some could be contradictory or harmful according to the particular cancer treatment(s)...... also some have reccomeded colonics to clean the colon and thus aid the liver.... I'm not sure about safety data of colonics during chemotherapy..... would be good to ask doctor/investigate...... it is important to get rid of toxins at this time..... baths can help and sweating i.e. saunas as well as "tonic" teas containing dandelion etc. I would also reccomend beets..... tell her to eat some borscht..... very good for you and cleansing foods would be good at this time. I reccomend lots of leafy greens brassicas..... beets and spring greens like dandelion. Also the supplements etc. Fresh vitamin c foods too like oranges. Again maitaining a clean toxic free enviroment is important at this time....

Advice from the National Cancer Institute about diet in cancer patients.

I'd second the comment about consulting with one's physician before undertaking an alternative regimen; some herbal drugs can interact negatively with standard treatments (there is concern, for instance, that milk thistle might cause increased toxicity of chemotherapy agents).

Colonic "flushing" has no value in treating cancer.
