Butcher's broom dangers?

I take Lipitor and Diovan. I have had a long time problem with edema. My doctor indicates it is from leaky veins and offers no medication. But recently I read about butcher's broom and ordered Natures Sunshine Vari-gone containing butcher's broom and horse chestnut extract. Is this safe to take along with my other medications? I used to take straight horse chestnut extract but have never taken butcher's broom. The only thing I read on internet was that BB could cause elevated blood pressure. I plan to take it as prescribed.

I don't know about butcher's broom. However, when you take a new herb or formula, you can start with a 1/2 dose for a short time, like 3 days, and pay attention to your body's reaction. Continue to monitor your body's reaction to the herb over time. In that way you will be safer compared to starting right in at the full dose.

IF that doesn't work I think most hospitals have a drug herb index. So you may want to consult or call and ask. Also ummmm you could try a 24 hour pharmacy and they may have the info.

I have been having buthcers broom, vitamin c and multi vitamin since a month fir my idiopathic edema. I have not had any significant improvement since then. My weight is stable at 79 kg. Would like to get rid of my swelling on whole body. Somebody can suggest a remedy or advise by what time can butcher broom start showering results.

http://www.drugs.com/ is another site that's good for checking drug-herb interactions.
